Yesterday our bnai mitzvah students took to the community center of northern westchester in katonah...all 1860 lbs! and it is a good thing the food got there when it did...the shelves were otherwise bare....this should tell us that donating food to the community center is something we must continue to do all year long...I hope you will make this one of your commitments for the new year that has just started. well done, all!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Laurence.
I am reflecting on the upheaval of vital institutions (as well as horrific ones) and humanitarian values all of which prompt my awareness and fear of the human forces of destruction and fallibility. I will wish for resolution and re-emergence. The phoenix comes to mind.

Disclaimer: I have been asked if I was Auntie T. Let's be clear: I am not!! Auntie T. begged me to allow her to be published on this blog, and when I told her, that I had to think about it, she bribed me. So you know, what's left for you to do to get published too!

Or you can use the comments section...

Absolutely true. I attended a seminar last night about communicating with your "Tweens." The clinical psychologist said that it is the parent's actions that have an effect on our kid's self perception, esteem and ultimately values. Be careful what you say or what you do. It's not so much the intention that you communicate it's your actual behavior. In the case of your passage, our fallibility and the importance of forgiveness are good lessons to teach our children.

Dear Julia,
Congratulations on your confirmation and we would have loved to have been there to share this wonderful day. Your speech was beautifully thought out and poignant. Your life has been profoundly changed as a result of your camp experience and the years of study at The Jewish Family Congregation which emphasized good Jewish values and tradition. Now that we are in Israel we certainly could appreciate your sincere endeavors and the importance of your committment.
Love,
Grandma & Grandpa
